Rosette Tutorial

For Mother’s Day, I was inspired to make little rosettes as an accessory to my improvised muslin tablecloth. They came out great, and I was able to whip up about 20 in half hours time. They are easy, and not expensive at all. It’s an ideal project — truly. So, I got cookin.’ My husband only noticed the rosette take-over of our family room after I placed a few from my third batch ‘artistically’ on the bookcase & TV console. What?! They’re awesome! … He’s so impressed.
Lamps & Lists

Over the weekend, I went to Target for a burlap lampshade to pair with an old rod iron base we already own, only to find a white linen shade that began a mean debate of ‘this one? or that one? or this one?…’ (Can you picture it?) The white linen would have been perfect for our Master, but I’d originally wanted to find something for our foyer table. Ah … decisions. Read on to see what I left with …
Mother’s Day

Ah, well … between the meal-planning, grocery shopping, cleaning house, pie-baking, and busy, busy week of work and play, the Mother’s Day pre-post was … foregone. Perhaps now that I have a few ideas on the books, it’ll make staying on top of holiday blogging a bit easier next time around. Still wanted to share our day! Maybe the table and decor will inspire another celebration for you …

Dining Chair Redo in Raspberry Pink

Image 3

Painted my second castaway dining chair in Raspberry! …a whimsical, garden party color and I loved the idea of seeing it finished in that setting. I looked for the right color for months, finding it often in a gloss formula, which wouldn’t have worked well on wood. Finally found a local graffiti spray paint supplier that carried matte formula. This color is called ‘True Magenta’ and is from the Montana Black line. We painted – and then we partied!
Dining Chair Redo in Classic Navy

Finally! I’ve had these chairs on my project list since last December! So happy to have found some free time to complete their make over. I wrote a little sneak peek last week and shared the back story. To re-cap … six solid wood dining chairs outlived their owners taste — plastic seat covers and gold embossed diamond lattice patterns were cool once upon a time — so the chairs were placed curbside with a ‘Free’ sign that beckoned any decent DIYer. Consider moi the beckoned DIYer. ( and, once again … shout out to my very, extremely, so totally, non-judgemental husband — who, I’ll add, arranged to have the chairs delivered to our house and then went above and beyond to organize our one car garage to accommodate the set — a feat worth praise in my book.)
Periwinkle Porch Party

Image

Just returning from a long week of celebrating my grandma’s beautiful life of 90 years. We enjoyed ideal northern spring weather, afternoon tea with fudgy brownies, a little gardening to prepare the hydrangea, lily, and tulip flower beds, a crash course in crochet and purling, and the daily mail delivering cards galore along with the occasional gourmet chocolate gift box that we delighted to taste test!
Chair Reno Sneak Peek

Well the weather was a punk over last weekend. Soggy and windy — putting a major damper (pun intended) on my chair reno. Couldn’t really get myself together long enough to complete the spray paint project. That, and rain just makes me brain dead … Can I get a witness? I did manage to make a Saturday afternoon errand run to pick my fabric and paint colors. Found a few neat patterns in Printed Duck material (ideal for upholstery projects) at Hobby Lobby, and graffiti art spray paint in True Magenta (think raspberry) and Space (a classy navy) from a local art store. Sneak peek of what’s to come below.
Photo Album Scoop

Getting ready to head to JoAnn Fabric to pick up all the supplies I’ll need for an epic chair re-upholstering reno I’m planning for the weekend. Hopefully the rain won’t put a damper on my spray paint parade. Before running out, and while my turkey ranch burger cooks, I took some quick photos of two photo albums I put together through MyPublisher — (Just google — you download the software directly to your computer — kinda nice, unless you drop your computer and your hard drive crashes, buuuuuut that doesn’t happen very often, right?)
